In reading the TK Primer it says, "If missional means "to go,"
incarnation is about "how" you go and what people see as you go. It encompasses your posture, your tone, your motives, and your heart. Incarnation is critical because it will eventually [impact] whether or not people will want to know you or your God."
I love the way Young Life states it: We have to earn the right to be heard!
Let's get right to it. What is your posture? In other words, how do people experience you? What is the attitude of the body? How are you expressing yourself to others, especially in nonverbal ways?
Perhaps in contrast, Jesus was viewed as a a friend to sinners...so what was His posture?
I think it is possible, particularly for some of my neighbors to think or feel like I don't really care about them or value them based on the reality that I don't spend time with them, invite them into my home, initiate a relationship with them, or serve them. How powerful would it be if my posture was one of acceptance, and care, and service, and genuine interest. I can see how mission alone could be dangerous and offensive (history can be a testimony to that). But mission coupled with being incarnational...with being the body of Christ...his hands...his feet...His posture...now that can be transformational.
So what is our posture going to be?
